  • Electricity

    Electricity is very expensive in developing countries. Please conserve as much as possible and turn off the air condition units when not in use. The power can go out from time to time. Do not be alarmed. It is usually not out for extended periods of time. Electricity is very precious. Please save energy.

  • Grocery Store

    Please keep in mind that you will need to pick up groceries and necessities that you will need during your stay. We suggest picking up the following items: bags of ice, dish and laundry detergent, coffee, creamer, sugar, coffee filters, any cooking supplies / condiments that you will need, tin foil. If you have the Full-Service Package, your villa will be pre-stocked for you.

  • Is there a property manager in case we have any issues?

    Yes, we will provide you with his/her contact information before you travel.

  • Do I need an electrical adapter for travel in Belize?

    The outlets are the same as in the US. No adapters are required.

  • If we opt for the grocery service, is alcohol included?

    Yes, alcohol may be pre-stocked as well.

  • Can we get the house stocked with food before we arrive?

    Yes.

  • Is there a pool at the Villa?

    All of our Villas have private pools.

  • Does the Villa have Internet?

    All of our villas have internet service, though please be prepared for service speeds slower than that which you may be accustomed to.

  • Is travel insurance available?

    No, we do not provide travel insurance. Primus Villas offers Trip Protection Coverage as an option to purchase. The Trip Protection Coverage will allow you to cancel at any time, for any reason (weather, family emergency, sickness, work, etc.), and give you an additional year to travel. Primus Villas strongly encourages all clients to purchase the Trip Protection Coverage. Please ask your concierge for details.

  • Can we rent cars when we arrive?

    Placencia is a 20-mile-long peninsula and cars are not typically needed. Most of our groups rent golf carts for the week.

  • Money / Credit Cards

    Contact your credit card company before arriving to advise them of your travel plans to Belize and the dates you will be using your card. US dollars, Visa and MasterCard are accepted most anywhere in Belize for a small transaction fee. ATM’s are widely available.

  • What is the weather like in Belize?

    Belize is subtropical, with an annual temperature of 80 degrees.

  • Where is Belize located?

    Belize lies on the eastern coastline of Central America, bordered on the north by Mexico, on the west and south by Guatemala, and on the east by the sparkling waters of the Caribbean Sea. It is separated by sea from its neighbor to the southwest, Honduras.

  • Will our cell phones work down there?

    Yes, though you should check with your provider to make sure you get the best plan for calling internationally.

  • Is there a hospital or medical facility near the property?

    Belize City has a hospital as well as other local medical services. Primus Villas offers Med Jet Insurance that you may purchase before you travel in case medical evacuation services are needed. Please ask your concierge for details.

  • Is there a grocery store nearby?

    Yes, there are several local markets near each villa.

  • What airport do I fly into?

    Guests should plan to fly into the Philip SW Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City. Your group will then take a hopper flight to Placencia. Your concierge will be happy to arrange your hopper flights for you.

  • What is the currency in Belize?

    Local currency is the Belize dollar. One U.S. dollar is worth two Belize dollars and because it is a fixed exchange rate, their is no fluctuation. The U.S. dollar is accepted almost everywhere, however large bills can be difficult to break.

  • Do we need a passport?

    You must have a valid passport to enter Belize. If your passport is set to expire within the next six months, please renew before you travel.

  • What language is spoken in Belize?

    English is the official language and is widely spoken, as is Spanish.

  • Will we be provided with a final itinerary?

    Yes, Primus Villas will prepare and send a comprehensive trip itinerary prior to your departure date complete with all planned excursions, final details and contact numbers for your convenience.

  • What time is check-in/check-out?

    Check-in time is 3:00pm or later on Saturday, and check-out time is by 11:00am the following Friday.

  • Is maid service available?

    Yes, we can arrange for a daily maid service for an additional fee. The Primus Villas Full Service Package includes daily maid service.

  • How many bedrooms are in the villas?

    All of our villas have at least four bedrooms.

  • Do we need to bring soap? What about towels?

    Primus Villas provides a starter supply of bath and dish soap, paper towels, and toilet paper. Please bring your preferred brand of shampoo. Shampoo is available at the local grocery stores, though your brand is not guaranteed. All necessary towels and linens are provided at the villa. There is no need to bring those items along on your trip.

  • How long is the drive from the Placencia airstrip to the villa?

    The drive time from the airstrip in Placencia to our villas ranges anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the property. If you decide to take a shuttle vs. the hopper flight, the drive time from Belize City to Placencia is roughly 3 ½ hours.

  • Is the water safe to drink?

    The water in each of our villas is considered safe for drinking. To eliminate all risk, drinking and utilizing bottled water is a proper precaution.
